Little Hatch Preschool Enrollment

Washington Community Schools is currently gathering information from families interested in enrolling their children in our Little Hatch Preschool for the 2026-2027 school year. Please complete the interest form no later than March 20, 2026 to be considered for the lottery selection. All submissions completed after March 20 will automatically be put on the waiting list.

Program Overview

Little Hatchets is a full-day program designed for students who plan to attend Kindergarten at Washington Primary.

  • Hours: Drop off 7:30-8:00 a.m.

  • Preschool from 8:00 am – 2:35 pm ( Same as Washington Primary )

  • Pick up 2:35-2:55 p.m.

  • Total Due at Preregistration on April 8, 2026: $150 To secure your child’s placement, a total of $150 is due at the time of enrollment. This total includes the registration and supply fees, which are paid together to complete the registration process.

    • Registration Fee ($125): For students who attend the Preschool, this fee will be credited toward the August tuition payment. Please note that this fee is non-refundable; should you choose to withdraw from the program prior to the start date, this fee will be forfeited.

    • Supply Fee ($25): This fee covers the entire school year and replaces the traditional school supply list. This fee is non-refundable. These funds allow the preschool to purchase high-volume items in bulk, such as finger paint and playdough.

    • Tuition Rate ($25/day): Tuition is billed monthly based on the number of days school is in session for that month. Little Hatch Preschool follows the Washington Community Schools calendar for all holidays, breaks, and closures.

Enrollment Criteria

To be eligible for the program, families must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Students must be at least four years old by August 1, 2026.

  • Transportation: Parents are responsible for daily transportation, ensuring timely drop-off and pick-up.

  • Good Standing: Families must remain in good standing regarding all program fees and charges.

  • Behavioral Support: Students are expected to follow school behavioral guidelines. We require parents to actively reinforce these expectations to maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Attendance: Regular attendance is critical. Parents must ensure students arrive and are picked up according to the school schedule every day.

The Selection Process (Random Lottery)

Space is limited. Completing the interest form does NOT guarantee a spot.

  1. Lottery Entry: The selection process is based on a "random lottery" draw.

  2. Notification: Families will be notified of their selection during the week of March 30th.

  3. Verbal Acceptance: A verbal acceptance must be given at the time of notification to hold your selection.

  4. Pre- Registration: Selected families must attend an in-person pre-registration session on April 8th.

  5. Final Registraion: Complete the online enrollment requirements either in person or from home in July 2026

Please Note: Due to the high volume of interest, individual notifications will only be sent to families whose names are drawn in the lottery. If you do not receive a notification by the end of the week of March 30th, it means your child has been placed on the waiting list.

Fees

  • Fees are $25.00 per day. By accepting a position in our preschool program, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the full tuition amount. 
  • On My Way PK Voucher Program: On My Way Pre-K awards grants to 4-year-olds from eligible families so they can attend a high-quality pre-K program the year before they begin kindergarten. Parents are responsible for the entire application process.  If vouchers are not secured and active prior to the start of the school year, families are expected to pay the full tuition rate out-of-pocket.

Required Documentation (For April 8th Registration)

We encourage families to please start gathering this information now to ensure you are prepared for the registration date.

Please bring the following original documents to your registration session:

  • Certified Birth Certificate: A certified copy from the health department in the county where your child was born is required. (Please note: hospital souvenirs are not acceptable).

  • Current Immunization Records

  • Parent/Guardian Identification

  • Two (2) Proofs of Address: Acceptable forms include current utility bills, rental/lease agreements, or medical bills. (A sworn, notarized statement is required if living with another family).

Deadline

To be eligible for the lottery, this form must be submitted by March 20, 2026All entries submitted after this date will be placed on a waiting list according to their submission timestamp.
