High School Athletic Event Attendance & Spectator Policy
To help provide a safe, enjoyable, and family-friendly environment for everyone, Washington Community Schools asks all guests to follow the attendance and spectator policy at high school athletic events.
Attendance Policy
- All K-8 students must be accompanied by a paid adult to enter athletic events.
- At the Hatchet House, K-8 students are required to remain seated in the stands.
- For the safety of all guests, unsupervised elementary and middle school students will not be admitted.
Re-Entry Policy
- Spectator re-entry is not permitted. Once a spectator leaves the venue, they will not be allowed to re-enter.
Prohibited Items
The following items are not permitted at Washington Community Schools athletic venues:
- Backpacks
- Outside food and beverages
- Electronic noisemakers
- Laser pointers
- Footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, or other sports equipment
- Animals, except trained service animals
- Cowbells are allowed at Hatchet Hollow, but prohibited in the Hatchet House
Spectator Expectations
To ensure a positive experience for all attendees:
- Shirts must be worn at all times.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited on all Washington Community Schools campuses.
- Spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and follow all IHSAA rules and expectations.
- Any spectator who is removed from an event for unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended from attending a minimum of two athletic contests, in accordance with IHSAA regulations.
