High School Athletic Event Attendance & Spectator Policy

To help provide a safe, enjoyable, and family-friendly environment for everyone, Washington Community Schools asks all guests to follow the attendance and spectator policy at high school athletic events.

Attendance Policy

  • All K-8 students must be accompanied by a paid adult to enter athletic events.
  • At the Hatchet House, K-8 students are required to remain seated in the stands.
  • For the safety of all guests, unsupervised elementary and middle school students will not be admitted.

Re-Entry Policy

  • Spectator re-entry is not permitted. Once a spectator leaves the venue, they will not be allowed to re-enter.

Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted at Washington Community Schools athletic venues:

  • Backpacks
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Electronic noisemakers
  • Laser pointers
  • Footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, or other sports equipment
  • Animals, except trained service animals
  • Cowbells are allowed at Hatchet Hollow, but prohibited in the Hatchet House

Spectator Expectations

To ensure a positive experience for all attendees:

  • Shirts must be worn at all times.
  • Smoking and vaping are prohibited on all Washington Community Schools campuses.
  • Spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and follow all IHSAA rules and expectations.
  • Any spectator who is removed from an event for unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended from attending a minimum of two athletic contests, in accordance with IHSAA regulations.
