Washington High School has fostered a successful partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program (AP-TIP) to elevate the professional development and training of our AP educators. Since joining in the fall of 2019, our students have shown remarkable improvement in their AP Exam performance. During the 2023-2024 school year, sixteen Washington High School students were honored as Advanced Placement Scholars for their exceptional achievements.

The University of Notre Dame's AP-TIP program is dedicated to equipping teachers and school leaders with the tools to create accessible and rigorous learning environments that prepare students for college, careers, and life. Our educators have greatly benefited from the expert support provided by Notre Dame's Center for STEM Education and advanced training opportunities.

Taking AP courses in high school offers students significant advantages beyond bolstering college applications. Research indicates that AP courses help students develop critical study habits, time management skills, and the ability to excel in challenging academic settings. Additionally, AP students can earn college credit or placement at a reduced cost, saving both time and money in the long run.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the continued success of our AP Scholars. The rigorous curriculum and supportive educators are providing our students with the academic preparation they need to be successful in a competitive environment”, said Assistant Superintendent Steve Peterson.
