For the 2022-2023 school year, twenty Washington High School students were recognized as Advanced Placement Scholars for their outstanding achievements in their AP exams.

Washington High School has established a collaborative partnership with the University of Notre Dame's Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program (AP-TIP) to enhance our AP educators' professional development and training. Consequently, Washington High School has witnessed tremendous growth in the performance of our students on AP Exams since the program began in the fall of 2020. For the 2022-2023 school year, twenty Washington High School students were recognized as Advanced Placement Scholars for their outstanding achievements in their AP exams.

The University of Notre Dame AP-TIP program is dedicated to empowering teachers and school leaders to create accessible and challenging learning environments that advance all students’ readiness for college, career, and life. Our teachers have benefited from the invaluable support provided by experts associated with Notre Dame's Center for STEM Education and access to advanced training opportunities.

Enrolling in AP courses during high school offers students numerous advantages beyond simply enhancing one's college application. Studies show that AP courses provide students with the opportunity to develop essential study habits, time management skills, and the ability to thrive in an academically demanding environment. Students taking AP courses can also earn college credit or placement at a fraction of the cost, which can save time and money in the future.

"Students at Washington High School that are part of the AP program have been very successful,” Principal Brian Holland stated. “ Our teachers and guidance department have been vital in the process by offering 12 AP courses. Their success proves that students at WHS are prepared for the academic rigor of advanced studies beyond post-secondary levels.  I believe our students are prepared for success in their future careers from these experiences."

“I am super proud of the AP program we are building and expanding at Washington High School. WHS offers 12 AP courses, one of the widest selections of AP courses you will find in southwest Indiana. The level of rigor in these classes helps to develop the academic skills in our students that will lead to college success. Plus, our AP students are finding the benefit of having AP scores converted to college credit for tuition savings. Our AP students stand out on scholarship applications for their AP experience and success,” Kevin Frank, Superintendent, Washington Community Schools.
