CELL Certification Presentation
Sandy Hillman, Director of Early College from the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis, presented to the board the endorsement of the College & Career Academy at Washington HS as highly effective in implementing the 8 Core Principles of Early College, and has earned CELL Certification.
WHS has documented evidence of quality programs that help high school students graduate high school and accelerate into post-secondary education, whether at a 4-year institution or a career/technical program. Sandy & Janet presented WHS with a banner to proudly display at WHS. Press Release Attached.
AP Scholar Recognition
Washington High School’s partnership the Notre Dame AP-Tip (Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program) has shown consistent growth in student achievement on Advanced Placement exams. Seventeen students, up from fourteen last year, achieved AP Scholar status; granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. In the three years before AP-TIP, WHS averaged 4 AP Scholars per year.
2021-2022 AP Scholar Recipients:
AP Scholar with Distinction - Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams:

While no final decision has been made, Washington Community Schools is currently exploring the possibility of making several updates and improvements to Hatchet Hollow.
Washington Community Schools currently has bond debt that will soon be paid in full. This will allow new debt to be structured in a way that will allow the district to make improvements to Hatchet Hollow without putting any additional burden on taxpayers.
