This year, we proudly honor our outstanding staff for their dedication and exceptional commitment to our students every day.

At each monthly school board meeting, we will highlight staff members who have been nominated for exemplifying the highest standards of excellence.

McKenzie Norton, 4th Grade Teacher at Washington Intermediate, Nominated by Principal Caleb Cherry

Ms. Norton exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding educator and leader. Throughout her time in the classroom, Ms. Norton has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, a calm and composed demeanor, and a profound ability to manage and engage her students.

Her leadership skills shine through as she has seamlessly stepped into a leadership role within the school community. Despite the challenges of this role, Ms. Norton maintains a steady and thoughtful presence, always approachable and encouraging to both her colleagues and students.

In the classroom, Ms. Norton displays remarkable classroom management and control, fostering an environment where students feel both supported and challenged. Her calm demeanor allows her to effectively address classroom dynamics while maintaining a positive and productive learning atmosphere. She is deeply respected by her students, who thrive under her guidance, and her ability to maintain order without sacrificing warmth or engagement is truly exemplary.

Ms. Norton is a dedicated educator who goes above and beyond, inspiring those around her and making a lasting impact on her students and the school as a whole.

“Mrs. Evans exhibits professionalism in many ways daily.  Her ability to make connections with her students and families is just part of what makes her classroom feel inviting and comfortable for students.  Because her students feel at home in her classroom they are able to exhibit a large amount of academic growth.  Mrs. Evans is also a teacher leader and a positive influence in our building.  For these and many other reasons Mrs. Evans is worthy of this recognition.”

“Clay demonstrates outstanding leadership within our organization overseeing grounds staff and working in tandem with our maintenance team. As an outside-the-box thinker, Clay consistently brings creative solutions to irregular problems, demonstrating adaptability when facing unforeseen challenges. His willingness to work outside of scheduled hours and going above and beyond underscores his commitment to WCS and the community.

 He proved his skillset during the recent winter weather with our challenges with the snow and freezing temperatures. His proactive approach ensured timely snow removal and de-icing allowing for staff and students to return to the classroom as quickly as possible.  Thank you Clay!”
