Shannon Johnson, Teacher at Washington Intermediate, Nominated by Principal Brian Holland

“It is with great pleasure that I nominate Mrs. Shannon Johnson for the staff member of the month for Washington High School. Mrs. Johnson currently teaches Government and World History at WHS. Mrs. Johnson has an unwavering commitment to the teaching profession and for the depth of character she brings to every role she undertakes. She inspires students through both action and example. She incorporates real-world examples and interactive activities that engage students who had previously been resistant. Mrs. Johnson creates a classroom culture where other students feel safe to participate and take intellectual risks. As a positive role model, Mrs. Johnson conducts herself with integrity and humility. She models punctuality, preparedness, and respectful communication in every setting. Mrs. Johnson is deeply dedicated as an effective educator.”

Beth Milton, Food Services at Washington Veale Elementary, Nominated by Sodexo Food Services Director Eben Lips

Beth is a dedicated member of our Food Service staff at Veale elementary. She has been working with Washington Community Schools for over 30 years, beginning as a teacher's aide and a substitute worker in the kitchen. She has worked in the kitchen full time since 2009 and became the manager in 2013. Beth is ultra organized in her work, and loved by her students and staff. We love having Beth on our staff and hope she stays for another 30 years.

Bobbie Byrer, Bus Driver for Washington Community Schools, Nominated by Transportation Director Kevin Byrer

“Bobbie has been a bus driver since 2021. This school year has been very challenging for Transportation due to a shortage on bus drivers. Bobbie has gone above and beyond her daily duties, 2-3 times per week she drives up to 3 different routes per day. When someone is in need she is always ready to step up and help in any way possible.”
