We are shining a spotlight on WHS sophomore Landyn Shanklin!
As a sophomore, Landyn earned a spot to perform at the ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festival this past weekend. At Solo & Ensemble, students perform professional-level pieces of music for judges and are graded against a rubric. Students with the highest scores can earn a Gold Rating.
The piece of music Landyn performed is an upper-level collegiate alto saxophone solo. Landyn earned a Gold Rating, with Distinction, and a perfect score! This is a very rare accomplishment at State S&E.
On top of being an exceptional musician, Landyn also regularly works one-on-one with the junior high band students.
