Riley Dorsam, Teacher at Washington Primary, Nominated by Principal Kristen Murphy

“I would like to nominate Riley Dorsam for Teacher of the Month. Riley is an outstanding teacher and leader who consistently goes above and beyond for both her students and her colleagues.

For several years, Riley has served as a mentor teacher, helping support and guide new teachers as they begin their careers. She also leads our first-grade team with a forward-thinking mindset, always looking for ways to improve instruction, support students, and help her team grow.

Riley’s leadership extends beyond her classroom. She has served on our building leadership team as well as our building project team, giving her time and perspective to help move Washington Primary forward.

Most importantly, Riley is a wonderful teacher who truly cares about doing what is best for her students. She is constantly thinking about how we can better serve our students and families while continuing to move Washington Primary in the right direction. Her leadership, dedication, and willingness to step up make her very deserving of Teacher of the Month!”

Jessica Scarlett, Resource Teacher at Washington Jr. High, Nominated by Principal Cody Chapman

“Mrs. Scarlett truly deserves to be honored as Staff Member of the Month for her outstanding commitment to our school community. Balancing a heavy load alongside distinct student challenges, she has made the transition to WJHS seamless for our 7th grade students. Driven by an unwavering mindset to always do what is best for kids, she consistently puts her students' needs first and sets a standard of care and dedication at WJHS.”

Jasmine Medley, Sodexo Facilities, Nominated by Sodexo Facility Director Graham Giesler

“I am happy to recognize Jasmine Medley as our Staff Member of the Month.

Although Jasmine has only been with Sodexo and Washington Community Schools since June, she has already made a tremendous impact. While working with us during the summer, she quickly became versatile at many tasks, readily taking on a variety of responsibilities and learning new skills with minimal training. As a night-shift custodian at the high school, Jasmine is responsible for cleaning a portion of the upstairs facilities. She approaches her work with consistency, dedication, and pride, helping ensure that staff and students return each day to a clean and welcoming environment.

Since taking her position in June, Jasmine has not called in sick or missed a single day of work. Her dependability and steadfast commitment are especially admirable for a new employee. She also recently demonstrated exceptional initiative by volunteering to cover an entire week on a different shift at Veale Elementary while another employee used PTO.

Jasmine has quickly become a tremendous asset to our team. Her strong work ethic, reliability, adaptability, and willingness to step in whenever needed demonstrate the qualities we value in employees for whom we have high aspirations. I look forward to seeing Jasmine build a bright future with Sodexo and Washington Community Schools.

Congratulations, Jasmine, and thank you for your outstanding work!”
