Washington Primary’s Kristin McGuire Receives IU Armstrong Teacher Educator Award

Kristin McGuire, a Dual Language Immersion Teacher at Washington Primary, has been named an Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Educator award winner, one of only 12 recipients throughout the state. She will work with Indiana University faculty and undergraduates in the classroom and early field experiences.

“This was an unexpected honor and I am grateful for the acknowledgment and
upcoming opportunity,” she said. “I am excited to work with other inspiring
educators who are eager to give back and join in conversations to motivate,
encourage, and support upcoming professionals to help better prepare them in
the ever-changing, challenging yet rewarding profession all while continuing to grow in the profession myself."

Mrs. Murphy, Principal at Washington Primary, expressed her admiration, saying, “I love to see greatness be great. It's not just about putting a spotlight on Kristin, it's about the difference she is making for the kids, and that deserves to be celebrated. Her dedication to making a difference in the lives of her students is truly inspiring, and it’s wonderful to celebrate her achievements and the positive impact she has on our community."

Created in 1997, the Armstrong Teacher Educator Award program provides financial support for top Indiana educators, reimbursing them for travel and lodging expenses when visiting the IU campus in Bloomington. It also offers a $750 honorarium for their participation in discussion panels on current education issues.
